Identifying a Wayfarer

Im looking to buy a Wayfarer and the seller says its an MK 2, but the sail number is 3526... From what i know it's supposed to be a 1973 MkK 1. Can anyone help confirm the model?

Were you able to clarify with the seller if the sail has been replaced at some point?
That sail number would place the boat in the 1973 range, which aligns with an Mk1 since the Mk2 was introduced in 1974.
Ask to check the hull number to confirm the model, and look for key differences like the self-draining cockpit on Mk2s compared to the earlier Mk1s.

I'm 75% sure it's 1973 Mk1. Maybe double-check with the seller. He's probably got s reason for thinking it's an Mk2.

You're right to question that,, sail number 3526 definitely lines up more with a 1973 Mk 1. The Mk 2 didn't show up until the late '70s and had some noticeable differences, like the self draining cockpit and different deck layout. If you can grab a few photos of the cockpit and transom area, that'll help confirm it. But based on the sail number alone, it sounds like its actually a Mk 1
